Warning: Look out for this e-bay seller of tribal dance gear

Hello All,

I just had a really bad experience purchasing a tribal dance outfit on e-bay and thought I'd give you all a heads up. At the end of December I bought and paid for a beautiful tribal belt (burgundy with fringe) and a crochet shrug (supposedly in stock items) from e-bay seller ScarletsLounge. I was very excited because I wanted this for my TribalFest performance. Well two weeks later I get an e-mail from the seller that she needs my measurements since this is a custom order (which takes 4 to 6 weeks). "Cool" I thought "that will be even better". So I sent my measurements and waited. Six weeks went by and nothing, so I e-mailed her. A week later she replied that it will be sent in a week. So I finally get the items (10 weeks after purchase) and they do not fit, not even close. The belt falls right off and the shrug looks ridiculous it's so wide at the top. So, I wrote her a message. Five days later, nothing. I send another message, five days later nothing. So I contact e-bay and there is nothing they can do, if you want to file a claim it has to be within 45 days of purchase and Paypal can only reverse charges within 30 days. So I'm screwed.

Now, the clothes are beautiful, but it does me no good because they soooo don't fit. I don't know if this is how this seller always does business or I just got really unlucky, she has good feedback but mostly as a buyer. Since most of her items are custom orders and they take so long to arrive I would imagine most of her customers cannot leave feedback (e-bay closes the feedback option after 45 days I think). Anyway, I'm not telling you NOT to buy from this seller, just be wary. The guy at e-bay said that if this sort of thing happens in the future, open a case the second it seems someone is taking too long or trying to pull something. You don't have to actually follow through and can close the case as soon as you receive your item, but at least that way you are protected. I hope this helps you all to avoid the same headache I had to.

  • Good luck with paypal too. If the seller shows proof of item sent, paypal sides with the seller. I got wrong items and not enough items and totally burned and did all I was supposed to do with Paypal and still got burned. The seller disappeared off e bay shortly after. I even wrote directly to the seller, appealing to their ethics. NOT! Lol So "Buyer be totally aware". Look also at the comments and what items were purchased and actually read them cause some of the items that get good reviews can be totally unrelated to what you are ordering. Comments can be merely polite and not reflecting that it was an exact order, and purchases rather than sales from them get reviews too.
Thank you for the warning, too bad!

This is a really good reason to refer people to great sellers!

    Blessings
  • I am happy to say that I disregarded these warnings when the beautiful skirt I'd been eyeing went on sale. It arrived today looking exactly like the item listing (though not as good on me as it did on the model!) and about three weeks earlier than I'd been promised. All in all it was an easy transaction and a lovely new addition to my wardrobe. So, your mileage may vary!
